ICE SKATING: Behind the Scenes at the Photo Shoot
Our January login page is about one of our favorite winter weekend activities – ice skating. Photographer Josh Dalsimer and crew headed to Central Park’s Wollman Rink at the very wee hours of the morning to capture the perfect light.

The final image.

The fabulous team at Wollman Rink blocked off a perfect corner of ice for us. We were amazed how many other early morning skaters were already there at 6AM!

Signe Yberg’s styling options. The just-right knit socks turned out to be the most crucial style element. The hardest part? Picking our favorites.

Confession: We all fell in love with our skater. She was the absolute perfect ice princess.

A stylist trick: Signe cutting the corduroy’s so that they don’t bunch up too much.

Our skates for the final shot. We picked them because we liked the tan heel color. Apparently we weren’t the only ones: our model loved them so much, we gave her the skates after the shoot.

Mastering her “loose” spin. Although our skater spent years training how to do perfect, very tight spins, we wanted looser spin patterns. She was game!

The spin patterns we captured in camera. The double line is created by two points on the front “pick” section of the skate.
